My teaching philosophy centers on active learning, discovery, and inclusion. I aim to create classrooms where students learn economics by doing economics, engaging with real data, open-ended questions, and each other’s ideas. In Principles of Microeconomics, I encourage students to apply theory to current issues and design their own empirical projects using real-world datasets. I meet students where they are by integrating examples from class discussions into exams and assignments, reinforcing the relevance of economic reasoning to everyday decision-making. My approach to diversity and inclusion is rooted in this process of classroom discovery: I view every student’s perspective as a valuable lens through which to interpret economic ideas. Across all courses, my goal is to help students see economics not as a fixed set of answers, but as a framework for understanding and engaging with the world around them.
